Amna Al Dahak stresses role of collective action in achieving net zero

ABU DHABI: Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, has highlighted the importance of recognising the collective power humanity possesses in combatting climate change and achieving net zero.

In a statement marking Zero Emissions Day, the minister said, “Every individual has a crucial role to play in driving positive transformation. Our actions, our choices, hold the power to effect real change and enable our planet to overcome challenges and truly flourish.

‘Our nation has embarked on an ambitious strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This strategy demands action from every sector, every industry, every community. It is a bold vision, a promise to our planet and future generations, and a resounding call to action for each and every one of us.’

Dr. Al Dahak added, ‘I encourage everyone to embrace sustainable practices and take proactive steps to enable this change. Choose public transport, reduce your energy consumption, be mindful of your consumpt
ion habits and minimise waste – make sustainability an integral part of your daily life. Adopt sustainable lifestyle choices to lower your carbon footprint and also inspire others around you to follow your lead. Every step we take towards a greener future, however small, contributes to a healthier planet for generations to come.’

“While this day brings focus to our efforts, the journey towards reducing emissions is a year-round endeavour, requiring ongoing, conscious effort.

Together, let us make every day a step towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future,” she said in conclusion.
