AOT’s Committees Start their Meeting

The committees of the Arabic Observatory of Translation (AOT) started their meetings Thursday, a major cultural initiative at the regional level led by the Saudi Ministry of Culture, represented by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and in coordination with the National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science.

The introductory inaugural meeting was held on Friday in the presence of executive committee members from various Arab countries. The meeting, which builds on resolutions in the previous session, aimed at unifying Arab efforts, enhancing cooperation among member states, and formulating mechanisms to improve the translation and publishing sector in the Arab region.

The observatory consists of four specialized executive committees: The Supreme Scientific Committee, the Committee for Granting Studies and Research in Translation, the Monitoring and Documentation Committee in Translati
on, and the Business Development Committee. The work of each committee is centered around developing specific strategies to enhance innovation and support digital transformation in the translation sector, as well as collaborating with research and academic institutions to develop projects and evaluate distinguished research.
