FM discusses with Oxfam Country Director organization’s activities in Yemen

Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Jamal Ahmed Amer, held discussions with Oxfam Country Director Ferran Puig regarding the organization’s activities in Yemen and explored avenues for their enhancement.

During the meeting, Minister Amer commended Oxfam for its advocacy and defense of civilians amidst the coalition’s raids on Yemen, which have also impacted health facilities and water tanks.

He emphasized that the credibility of organizations stems from their neutrality and distance from politically motivated interventions. He highlighted the pressures from dominant countries offering politicized and conditional support, which Oxfam refuses. This refusal has significantly contributed to maintaining the organization’s neutrality and ensuring its humanitarian and relief projects remain free from manipulative interventions and mandates.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants has stated that the Government of Change and Construction is committed to enhancing relationships with interna
tional governmental and non-governmental organizations. Significant efforts are being made to foster an accommodating environment for the operation of entities engaged in humanitarian and relief efforts, thus facilitating their mission to support communities, particularly those most impacted and in need.

The country director of Oxfam, Puig, stated that the organization persists in delivering humanitarian aid and relief in the form of water projects, and environmental sanitation services, and in enhancing the ability of families to secure a livelihood.
