Foreign Minister Opens the High-Level Event ‘The Road to Riyadh’

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, inaugurated on Thursday the high-level event entitled “The Road to Riyadh”, which was organized by the Kingdom represented by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and in cooperation with the United Nations, regarding the Kingdom’s hosting of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification 2024, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly high-level week in New York.

During his opening speech, Prince Faisal stressed the Kingdom’s continued active efforts to combat desertification and face the challenges of climate change in light of the Saudi Green and Middle East Green Initiative. He also emphasized the importance of supporting environmental sustainability, enhancing vegetation cover, and strengthening international action to address these challenges.
