Hamieh addresses port operations amid security concerns

Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Ali Hamieh, on Thursday held a meeting with directors of key Lebanese ports, including Tripoli, Beirut, Tyre, and Sidon, to discuss the current regional security situation and its impact on port operations.

Following the meeting, Hamieh emphasized the need for swift cargo movement, particularly essential goods for daily life.

“Our primary concern is to prevent any delays that could keep goods in ports,’ he stated, calling for cooperation among traders and port authorities to ensure commodities remain accessible to the public, urging traders not to exploit the current crisis by raising prices.

“We are ready to facilitate all necessary processes to make goods available in shops,” Hamieh added, highlighting the ongoing economic crisis and the importance of maintaining reasonable prices for consumers.

Hamieh finally reiterated the commitment to expedite cargo handling amid the challenging circumstances.
