Jordan, Ireland Discuss Trade, Investment Ties

Chairperson of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, Mohammad Shoha, met with Irish Ambassador Marianne Bolger on Sunday to explore ways to enhance trade and investment relations between Jordan and Ireland, in addition to tackling key sectors such as industry, technology, renewable energy, and agriculture.

Shoha highlighted the chamber’s pivotal role in supporting and developing the commercial sector in Irbid, which boasts around 16,000 members. This, he said, underscores the vitality of the Jordanian market and the ambition of traders and investors to expand their businesses.

He also emphasized the chamber’s function as a bridge between the government and the private sector, facilitating dialogue on overcoming challenges and seizing available opportunities.

Shoha noted the impact of regional political instability on investment but stressed that His Majesty King Abdullah II is committed to removing obstacles and stimulating investment by continuously modernizing legislation, laws, and infrastructure that benefit
the economy.

Bolger reaffirmed Ireland’s interest in expanding trade relations with Jordan and invited Jordanian investors to visit Ireland to explore its investment environment and opportunities.

Both sides exchanged ideas on fostering sustainable cooperation and building strategic partnerships to create new opportunities for economic growth and strengthen trade and investment ties.
