Local Honey Shines at ‘Reef Valley’ Exhibition in Diriyah

At the heart of Saudi Arabia’s rich agricultural tradition, local honey producers are preparing to showcase the best of their craft at the upcoming “Reef Valley” exhibition in Diriyah.

The two-day event, set for September 25-26, is part of the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef); it promises to bring together the finest varieties of Saudi honey, offering visitors a taste of the Kingdom’s natural bounty.

Supported by Reef Saudi, the apiculture sector has flourished, with over 10,584 small producers benefiting from the program’s initiatives. Since its launch, the program has injected SAR140 million into the sector, boosting annual honey production to 3,120 tons last year. The program aims to increase that figure to 7,500 tons by 2026, further raising Saudi Arabia’s position as a leader in high-quality honey production.

The Reef Valley exhibition is more than just an opportunity to showcase outstanding products; it is an opportunity to market them as well.

Honey producers will ma
rket and promote their products to a broad audience, with dedicated pavilions expected to draw the attention of agricultural experts, businesses, and casual visitors alike.

The event highlights the quality and unique flavors of local honey, which often surpass those of imported varieties in taste and purity.

The Saudi Reef Program plays a key role in developing the honey sector, focusing on increasing local bee colonies and achieving self-sufficiency in honey production.

From establishing queen bee breeding stations to providing mobile clinics and laboratories to diagnose bee diseases, the program ensures that the industry thrives while maintaining bee health. It also promotes modern beekeeping techniques, ensuring sustainability and innovation among rural producers.

Held at the scenic Diriyah Biennale, the Reef Valley exhibition will be a major tourism and economic event. Alongside honey producers, farmers and agricultural businesses will present their products as well, holding, at the same time, activit
ies that attract all ages.

Visitors can expect a vibrant mix of entertainment, culture, and learning experiences, making this a must-visit event for anyone interested in the Kingdom’s agricultural heritage.

The exhibition highlights the local honey industry and underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to rural development and sustainable agriculture, bringing the flavors of the land to national and international attention.
