Palestinian basketball players recognized as local athletes in Yemen

SANA’A – SABA: The Palestinian Olympic Committee and the Palestinian Basketball Federation have expressed their gratitude towards the Yemeni General Basketball Federation for officially recognizing Palestinian players as local athletes in various tournaments across Yemen.

Ibrahim Habash, Chairman of the Palestinian Basketball Federation, thanked Yemeni Federation Chairman Abdulsattar al-Hamdani for this significant decision, which is seen as a supportive gesture toward Palestinian athletes who have faced severe massacres by the Nazi enemy.

This recognition allows Palestinian players to participate in youth and men’s categories in Yemeni tournaments, marking a historic moment as Yemen becomes the first Arab nation to grant such status.

The Yemeni Federation’s decision comes in light of the challenges faced by Palestinian players, including the suspension of their leagues due to the ongoing aggression.

During a phone call, Habash also discussed potential cooperation between the two federations, including t
raining and administrative support. The decision reflects deepening ties and solidarity between the Palestinian and Yemeni peoples in the face of enemy.
