Republic of Korea Evacuates 1,500 Amid Record-Breaking Floods and Landslides

Torrential rains in southern South Korea have forced the evacuation of approximately 1,500 people, according to authorities.

The heavy rainfall, which began on Friday, triggered landslides and flooding in the provinces of South Gyeongsang and Jeolla.

While no casualties have been reported, 170 homes, three factories, one hospital, and over 4,000 hectares of farmland have been affected by the flood.

In July 2023, the Republic of Korea experienced another devastating flood that resulted in 44 fatalities.
