Saudi, Cuban Health Ministers Sign Cooperation MoU

Saudi Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel and Cuban Minister of Public Health José Angel Portal Miranda have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the healthcare sector during their meeting in Cuba.

Minister Al-Jalajel and Minister Portal Miranda discussed enhancing health cooperation and fostering the exchange of expertise between Saudi Arabia and Cuba, aligning with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030. This initiative aims to bolster the healthcare sector by improving the quality of services provided to all members of society.

As part of his official visit to Cuba, Minister Al-Jalajel met with officials from the Cuban government and executives from BioCubaFarma to discuss the production of medicines, vaccines, and medical devices in Cuba.

These discussions were part of a series of meetings aimed at developing medications and vaccines to tackle health challenges and mitigate risks.

Minister Al-Jalajel toured various medical institutions, including t
he University of Medical Sciences of Havana, Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, La Pradera International Health Center, and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB).

The minister received insights into the services offered, technologies employed, and medical practices in Cuba’s healthcare sector.
