Shuaibah Solar Power Plant Project Offers Great Present, Promising Future

The Shuaibah Solar Photovoltaic Independent Power Plant Project has attained significant achievement among the Ministry of Energy’s initiatives consistent with the Kingdom Vision 2030.

It offers a vibrant present and a promising future at all levels and in different fields, one of the achievements that solidified the Kingdom’s leading global position.

The Shuaibah 1 and Shuaibah 2 plants are located some 80 km south of Jeddah, in the Makkah region. With a combined capacity of over 2,600 MW, they will harness solar energy and will be integrated into the national grid.

This project helps increase the contribution of renewable energy to the energy mix for electricity production by about 50% by 2030. The two plants will be built on a 55.33-square-kilometer area, and the volume of investments will reach $2.37 billion.

The 5,233,174 solar panels of the two plants have the potential to provide electric energy to over 450,000 residential units annually.
