Abu dhabi: An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 struck Indonesia on Sunday, the country’s meteorology and geophysics agency (BMKG) said. An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale hit Indonesia, as reported by the BMKG, the nation’s meteorology and geophysics agency. The quake occurred on Sunday, causing concern among residents and authorities.

According to Emirates News Agency, the epicentre of the earthquake was located 86 km west of Sinabang town. The depth of the quake was recorded at 2 km, which might have caused the tremors to be more strongly felt in the surrounding areas. Local authorities have been alerted to assess any potential damage or aftershocks.
