Abdullah Bin Zayed and Cypriot FM Ink Energy Partnership MoU


Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, today received Dr. Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, in Abu Dhabi. The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership in the field of energy between the two nations.



According to Emirates News Agency, the two diplomats reviewed the outcomes of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s official visit to Cyprus last December. This visit has been pivotal in advancing cooperation and the comprehensive strategic partnership across several sectors. The ministers explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in economic, trade, and investment sectors, alongside renewable energy and technology.



H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed welcomed Dr. Kombos and extended congratulations on Cyprus’s forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026. Discussions also touched upon the significance of strategic relations between the UAE and the European Union.



Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the robust strategic relations between the UAE and Cyprus, underpinned by mutual trust, respect, and shared visions. He noted that the UAE-Cyprus comprehensive strategic partnership serves as an essential framework for strengthening cooperation across various fields, supporting sustainable development plans in both countries for the benefit of their peoples.



The meeting further addressed several regional and international issues of shared interest. Particular focus was placed on developments in the Middle East and the importance of supporting initiatives that promote enduring security and stability in the region.
