Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) and the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA) have taken a significant step towards promoting local industry by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at 'Make it in the Emirates 2026'. This agreement aims to increase the use of locally manufactured building materials in housing projects across Abu Dhabi to up to 80%.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU will provide substantial benefits to local manufacturers and suppliers, strengthening the supply chains within the UAE. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of the industrial sector and support economic diversification. Additionally, the focus on local production will facilitate the delivery of sustainable and cost-efficient housing projects.
The partnership builds on the ongoing strategic cooperation between ADPIC and ADHA, focusing on advancing Abu Dhabi's long-term development goals while reinforcing the emirate's industrial and housing ecosystem. The collaboration signifies a mutual commitment to enhancing coordination among government entities, boosting the local industrial sector's contribution to major development projects, and accelerating the provision of high-quality, future-ready homes that cater to the evolving needs of Abu Dhabi's citizens and communities.
Maysarah Mahmoud Eid, Director-General of ADPIC, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating that sourcing 80% of building materials locally empowers UAE manufacturers and enhances supply chain resilience. Eid emphasized ADPIC's commitment to advancing a more integrated and efficient approach to capital delivery, aligning with the center's mandate to oversee and supervise projects across the emirate.
Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director-General of ADHA, noted that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to a sustainable and future-ready housing delivery ecosystem. By expanding local sourcing, they aim to strengthen supply chain resilience, reduce reliance on external markets, and ensure efficient and stable delivery of housing projects.
The collaboration will build on ADPIC and ADHA's existing efforts in developing major residential communities, including recently announced neighborhoods for citizens. Both parties will work together to increase the use of UAE-made building materials, assist local manufacturers, streamline procurement pathways, and ensure efficient and sustainable project delivery.
This MoU underscores Abu Dhabi's dedication to enhancing the role of national industries in strategic initiatives, boosting the competitiveness of the local manufacturing sector, and supporting the UAE's broader economic diversification agenda.
