ADJD Hosts Awareness Lecture on Employer and Domestic Worker Rights in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Majalis of the Presidential Court’s Citizens and Community Affairs Office, has conducted an awareness lecture at Al Wathba Majlis in Abu Dhabi to educate the public on the rights and responsibilities of employers and domestic workers.

According to Emirates News Agency, this initiative is part of ADJD’s continuous effort to promote legal awareness and support human rights protection, aiming to enhance legal literacy across various segments of society. This approach aligns with the goal of strengthening the emirate’s global competitiveness.

The lecture, delivered by Judge Ali Hassan Al Hashemi, Deputy Head of the Abu Dhabi Labour Court, was part of the Department’s “Majalisna” initiative. It centered on Federal Decree Law No. 9 of 2022, which pertains to domestic workers, and emphasized understanding the contractual relationship between employers and workers.

Key points covered during the session included the responsibilities of employers, such as setting fair wages, adhering to working hours, and granting leave entitlements, alongside the legal obligations of domestic workers. The lecture also outlined the appropriate legal procedures to be followed in the event of a dispute.

Additionally, the session provided a comprehensive explanation of the legal framework safeguarding both parties, ensuring a balanced relationship founded on mutual rights and responsibilities. It highlighted the Judicial Department’s streamlined litigation procedures and innovative dispute resolution mechanisms, which are designed to facilitate swift and accessible justice.
