The Agriculture and Irrigation Office in Saada Governorate has succeeded in cultivating and producing new varieties of apples called "sugary apples".
Director General of the Agriculture Office, Eng Zakaria Al-Mutawakel, told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that more than 12 apple varieties were collected.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and the Agricultural Research Authority launched the process of collecting these grafts and rootstocks in previous years, and the cultivation process took place in a sacrificial field in the Al-Maqash nursery in the Agriculture Office in Saada.
He stated that the office has today more than 200,000 seedlings that are being vaccinated in preparation for distributing them in the next season 2024 to all farmers to replace the poor local varieties.
