Ajman: The Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media launched the first edition of the “Masfout X” Race, a sporting event that blends adventure and endurance in the picturesque mountainous surroundings of the Masfout region. The event comes as part of Ajman’s celebrations marking the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad.
According to Emirates News Agency, the announcement was made during a press conference held at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ajman, in the presence of Jawaher Al Matroushi, Head of Support Services Department, along with senior officials, representatives of sponsoring entities, strategic partners, and members of the local media. The launch of Masfout X aligns with Masfout’s recent recognition as the ‘Best Tourism Village in the World for 2025’ by the UN Tourism. It also supports the Emirates Council for Balanced Development’s ‘Emirates Villages’ project, which aims to transform villages and mountainous areas into sustainable tourism and development destinations.
This initiative is part of the UAE’s strategy to foster rural and sports tourism, enhancing the country’s global tourism reputation. The Masfout X Race, scheduled for 2nd December 2025, will include mountain trail running, mountain biking, and an endurance run. Complementary activities, such as a mountain kayaking challenge, will offer participants and visitors a fulfilling experience.
The event is designed to test physical capacity and endurance in a natural setting, attracting elite athletes and amateur enthusiasts from across the emirates. The press conference also saw the presence of officials and supporting partners, including Sheikha Murad AlBlooshi of Etihad Water and Electricity – Official Sponsor of Masfout X, Mohammed Abdulla Al Obaidli from the Emirates Council for Balanced Development – Strategic Partner, Bader Al Zarooni from Endurance Sports Services – Event Organiser, Saif Ghadeer Al Ketbi from the Masfoot Municipality Department, and Abdulla Ahmed Al Baker from Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media.
Speakers highlighted the event as a pivotal step in positioning the emirate as a leading destination for sports and adventure tourism. They praised the collaboration between public and private sectors in organising the event, particularly acknowledging the support of strategic partners and sponsors like Etihad Water and Electricity, the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, and others whose contributions were crucial in bringing this initiative to life.
