Al-Budaiwi: GCC and EU Are Always Striving for Global Security and Stability

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has held a meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, during which he affirmed that the GCC and the EU continuously seek to ensure international security and stability through discussion and cooperation in bilateral and regional issues.

Al-Budaiwi explained that he discussed various issues of common interest, in addition to reviewing the latest regional and international developments.

He said that they discussed the GCC-European joint ministerial meeting, which will be held next October in Oman, and ways to enhance and develop cooperation between the GCC and the EU in various fields, including the exemption of GCC citizens from the Schengen visa and the mechanism for accelerating strategies for resuming free trade negotiations between the two sides to serve common interests, and for the benefit of all parties.

The GCC official highlighted the strategic and close relations between the GCC and the EU and their keenness to strengthen them through [exchanging] experiences, continuous communication, and meetings at all levels.
