Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) has released the second report of its Arabic Language Curricula Study Project, titled 'Literary Texts: Reference Framework, Selection, and Teaching Methods.' This report is part of the Centre's ongoing initiative to improve Arabic language curricula and enhance literature education across the Arab world.
According to Emirates News Agency, this latest report builds on the first one published in 2023, which explored the current state and future of Arabic language curricula in the UAE, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Tunisia, and Egypt. The second report provides a comprehensive analysis of literature instruction within these countries' curricula, spanning 470 pages and including an Executive Summary of key findings and recommendations.
Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of ALC, emphasized the importance of literature as a cultural pillar and its role in educational outcomes. He noted that the report aims to enhance Arabic curricula and support talent development, ultimately enriching Arab culture and serving as a scientific reference. The report is designed to guide decision-makers and educational institutions in developing curricula that preserve the authenticity of the Arabic language while promoting innovation and cultural dialogue.
The report is structured around three core questions: the purpose of teaching literature, the methods for teaching it, and the selection of literary works for curricula.
