ABU DHABI: Jean-Brice Dumont, Head of Air Power at Airbus Defence and Space, has announced that every Airbus aircraft currently in production incorporates parts manufactured in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dumont made this declaration while discussing Airbus’ enduring collaboration with the UAE, which has been pivotal in developing local manufacturing capabilities for aircraft components.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dumont emphasized Airbus’ commitment to expanding its industrial activities in the UAE, aiming to double them over the next decade. This expansion is part of Airbus’ strategy to establish the UAE as a global hub for aircraft parts manufacturing, fostering significant opportunities for Emirati industries in international markets. Dumont remarked that Airbus considers the UAE a strategic partner, underlining the importance of local expertise in advancing the aviation sector and positioning the country prominently on the world stage.
Dumont highlighted the recent signing of a partnership
agreement with EDGE Group to produce specialised fuel tanks for the C295 transport aircraft, underscoring the UAE’s role as the exclusive global supplier of these components. This initiative is part of Airbus’ broader strategy to transfer advanced technical knowledge to Emirati talent and strengthen partnerships with local companies such as EDGE Group, EPI, and Strata.
Reflecting on the partnership’s origins, Dumont noted that it began in 2010 with the production of the first locally manufactured part in collaboration with Strata. The relationship has since evolved, showcasing a significant qualitative shift toward establishing the UAE as a central hub for aircraft parts production, aimed at both domestic use and export.
Dumont further stated that Airbus is dedicated to training and qualifying Emirati talents, offering a work environment that supports skills development and enhances technical autonomy. He concluded by affirming Airbus’ commitment to empowering local staff not only in production but also in
handling new designs and fostering industrial innovation within the UAE.
