Arab Joint Statement Marks World Day Against Child Labour

Cairo, The Arab League, Arab Labor Organization, and the Arab Council for Childhood and Development called for the implementation of effective measures to reduce and eliminate child labor in the Arab world.

In a joint statement released yesterday by the three organizations to mark World Day Against Child Labour, observed annually on June 12, the organizations reaffirmed their unwavering commitment and developmental mission to safeguard and advance children’s rights in the Arab region.

The statement also highlighted the substantial and perilous rise in the number of working children, which is estimated to be 160 million children worldwide.

The three organizations pledged ongoing collaboration to tackle issues related to child labor, including economic factors that hinder progress.

The organizations emphasized that the crimes committed against humanity and childhood in the Gaza Strip are incompatible with human rights and children’s rights, asserting that they are a blemish on the international community an
d human rights organizations.
