Arab League Condemns Israeli Crimes against Humanity in Gaza

The Arab League has condemned the crimes against humanity the Israeli occupation forces have committed in Gaza Strip since October, stressing that these actions are a blatant violation of all international norms and conventions.

Assistant Secretary-General, head of Media and Communication sector at the Arab League Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh denounced the Israeli occupying power’s ongoing policy of starvation of civilians and prevention of humanitarian aid from reaching those in need in Gaza on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, observed every year on August 19.

She reiterated the Arab League’s support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) role in Gaza, despite the pressures and attempts by the occupying power to obstruct its work, and called on all international parties and donor countries to provide UNRWA with the necessary support to carry out its work.

Abu Ghazaleh also warned of the repercussions of the situation in Sudan, where the collapse of the health
sector due to ongoing conflict has led to the spread of numerous diseases and epidemics, and where around 25.6 million people face acute hunger.

Regarding Yemen, Abu Ghazaleh called on all concerned parties to cooperate with the Yemeni government to aid those affected by the floods and torrential rains that hit Al Hudaydah and Hajjah governorates this month, and to support efforts to mitigate the impact of this humanitarian disaster.

She noted that the Arab League’s General Secretariat seeks to provide all forms of support through its various mechanisms, including specialized ministerial councils and affiliated organizations, to alleviate the difficult humanitarian conditions in some member states.

Abu Ghazaleh also praised the continuous support of member states for countries experiencing severe humanitarian crises, and their endeavors to help deal with these challenges.
