Awqaf minister checks on services provided to Jordanian pilgrims in Medina

Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, and head of Jordanian Hajj missions, Mohammad Khalayleh, on Saturday evening checked on conditions and services provided to Jordanian pilgrims in holy city of Medina. During his tour, the minister said all administrative, preaching, guidance, medical and media missions accompanying Jordanian pilgrims seek to offer the best necessary services “quickly.” Khalayleh added that Awqaf ministry’s administrative mission provided all living services to Jordanian pilgrims since their arrival to Medina, noting that the ministry has booked hotels adjacent to the Prophet’s Mosque within Medina’s central area. During the inspection tour, Khalayleh listened to the pilgrims’ opinions about the level of hotel services provided to them, expressing appreciation to the ministry’s administrative and advisory staff in responding to their observations. In this regard, the minister directed all missions to work “immediately” to solve any problem or observation of Jordanian pilgrims “immediately.” In 2023, Jordan’s quota amounted to 8,000 pilgrims, restoring the normal number, which was reduced by half in 2022 due to repercussions of Covid-19 pandemic. The minister also commended Saudi efforts led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz to host pilgrims during the Hajj season.
