Warsaw: Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and CEO of Kalimat Group, has launched the Polish translation of her book "Let Them Know She Is Here: Searching for the Queen of Mleiha." This edition was published by the Polish publishing house Sonia Draga Sp. z o.o. The launch took place during a special event that celebrated the role of storytelling as a bridge between languages, cultures, and memory.
According to Emirates News Agency, the launch event was part of Sharjah's participation as Guest of Honour at the Warsaw International Book Fair 2026. The event was hosted at the Ksiegarnia Korekty bookstore in the Polish capital and attended by readers, publishers, cultural figures, and media representatives. The programme highlighted Arabic literature, translation, and cross-cultural exchange, aligning with Sharjah's broader cultural agenda at the fair.
During the event, Sheikha Bodour read an excerpt from her book in English. This was followed by Sonia Draga, the publisher, who read the same passage in Polish, providing the audience with an introduction to the book's exploration of history, memory, place, and identity across languages and literary traditions.
Sheikha Bodour elaborated on her book, stating that it is an invocation and a sacred weaving of memory and myth. The work illuminates a forgotten history of ancient Arab queens whose legacies are etched in the landscape of Mleiha. She expressed her excitement for Polish readers to engage with this part of cultural heritage, thereby expanding cultural dialogue and exploring a narrative rich in historical truth.
Sheikha Bodour emphasized the importance of literature in today's fast-paced world, urging reflection and deeper understanding of our narratives. She noted that the journey from Sharjah to Warsaw serves as a reminder of shared human essence, inviting readers to explore differences and recognize commonalities.
The book takes its readers through the archaeological landscape of Mleiha in Sharjah, combining personal reflection with historical inquiry. It examines the role of women in early history and the connection between place, memory, and cultural identity.
The release of the Polish edition extends the international reach of Emirati literature and demonstrates Sharjah's commitment to cultural exchange through translation and literary collaboration. As part of Sharjah's cultural programme at the Warsaw International Book Fair, Sheikha Bodour engaged with readers and signed copies of her book, reinforcing the theme 'Two Civilisations. One Language of Letters.'
