In the Qassim region, a group of young people has ventured into the date trade, acquiring dates from local palm farms, either through purchase or through rental agreements with the farm owners to oversee their care for a specified duration. They also go to the dawn date auction in Buraidah to purchase dates, which they later sell in stores or online.
The Buraidah Dates Carnival stands out as a pivotal economic opportunity for aspiring young entrepreneurs, fueling their ambition for greater earnings and empowering self-reliant individuals seeking viable business prospects.
Mohammed Al-Rumyyan, an expert in farm acquisitions, emphasized that the date season in Buraidah is a great chance for young people to trade and make money.
He stressed that it is important to follow guidelines when dealing with date palms, which entail essential care like watering and fertilizing to produce high-quality dates, till the harvesting stage. After harvesting, the dates are sorted into grades — premium, medium, and regular
— before being packaged for sale in Buraidah.
The carnival has set up important resources to assist and motivate young people in their date-trading activities, paving the way for increased prosperity and livelihood opportunities, with strong support from Qassim Region Governor Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud.
