CBUAE and Monetary Authority of Singapore Explore Enhanced Cooperation

Bangkok:The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) held a bilateral meeting with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to discuss advancing cooperation between the two entities. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Bangkok.

According to Emirates News Agency, representatives from both sides engaged in discussions about potential collaborations on central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), cross-border trade and settlements, and cross-border payments using QR codes. They also explored opportunities in green finance and the management of climate-related financial risks.

The meeting builds on a memorandum of understanding signed between the two authorities in 2009. Ebrahim Obaid Al Zaabi, Ahmed Saeed Al Qamzi, and Mohamed Hussain Al Marzooqi from CBUAE met with Leong Sing Chiong and other senior officials from MAS. Al Qamzi highlighted the longstanding partnership with MAS, expressing a desire to expand it to new areas such as cross-border payment and settlement solutions, which he believes will benefit trade and investment flows between the UAE and Singapore.
