CEO of SFDA Visits Number of Food Factories and Facilities in Makkah Region

Makkah, The CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Dr. Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey, conducted an inspection tour of several food factories and facilities in the Makkah region to ensure their preparedness to serve pilgrims this year.

Aljadhey’s inspection tour aimed to review and verify the compliance of these facilities with all technical requirements and specifications, ensure the availability and quality of the necessary supplies, check the operation mechanisms of these facilities to ensure the safety of food products for pilgrims, and verify their availability in a safe and healthy manner.

The SFDA carries out oversight and inspection of the products subject to its control and food businesses located within the scope of Makkah and Madinah, in coordination and integration with the relevant authorities. It also contributes to raising awareness among workers in catering kitchens by providing general instructions and directions.

Since the beginning of its work plan for the field survey for this year’
s Hajj season, the SFDA has carried out more than 3,700 visits to facilities under its control, 478 visits to educate workers in catering kitchens to adhere to all health requirements to ensure food safety, 306 field visits to enhance the safety of primary products and foodstuffs, and 154 visits to medical headquarters.

This effort is part of the Kingdom’s government initiative to harness all capabilities and provide the best services to the guests of the Holy House of God, within the framework of the SFDA’s role during the Hajj season 1445 H in ensuring the safety and quality of food, medicines, and medical devices.
