Cairo, Participants in the consultative meeting on Sudan stressed the need to support the Jeddah Platform under the auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America as a base and key to resolving the Sudanese crisis.
This statement came during the joint press conference between the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra, at the end of the meeting.
Aboul Gheit said that the meeting agreed on the need for a ceasefire as quickly as possible. The participants appealed to the warring parties to cease fire during the days of Eid al-Adha, emphasizing the need to preserve Sudan’s future and territorial integrity.
