Department of Energy: Abu Dhabi Leads Innovation, Sustainability in Global Energy Sector


Abu dhabi: Dr. Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, has said that World Energy Day is a landmark event that reaffirms the importance of energy, water, and technology conservation while preserving the environment through the promotion of sustainable practices. In a statement marking the day, he highlighted Abu Dhabi’s role in shaping a new era of innovation and sustainability, emphasizing a holistic approach to sustainable energy by encouraging communities, businesses, and industries to ‘Be the Change’.



According to Emirates News Agency, Al Jarwan outlined Abu Dhabi’s vision to create a future driven by secure, affordable, reliable, and clean energy, which would reinforce the region’s resilience and leadership on the global stage. The Abu Dhabi 2050 Energy and Water Sector Strategy aims to build an integrated ecosystem emphasizing people, prosperity, and the planet at the core of decision-making.



Al Jarwan further elaborated on the region’s ambitions to harness advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, embedding circularity and efficiency across sectors, to reimagine energy’s role as a catalyst for opportunity. He emphasized Abu Dhabi’s aim to become a leading enabler and adopter of digital, AI, and technologies in the energy sector, transforming energy generation and consumption to achieve smarter, more sustainable outcomes.



In conclusion, Al Jarwan noted that the UAE Energy Strategy and the Abu Dhabi Energy and Water Efficiency Strategy 2030 guide efforts to optimize resources, reduce consumption, and drive net-zero innovation.
