Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, DHA, said the authority continuously works on enriching the medical sector with young competencies believing in the importance of providing them with opportunities to lead Dubai’s developmental drive.
Al Qutami said the authority is working on this by sending students from the UAE abroad to some of the most prestigious universities in the world, including Ireland, to study medicine.
He made this statement during a meeting with Paul Kavanagh, Irish Ambassador to the UAE, where they discussed ways and means of health cooperation between the DHA and Irish health institutions, as well as educational institutions.
Al Qatami explained that the DHA focuses on sending its students to specialised medical universities and colleges, in particular, the Royal College of Surgeons and other institutes, which are currently being attended by a group of UAE students who have been invited by the DHA to study a range of important medical specialities.
The DHA Director-General praised the extensive history of medicine in Ireland as well as its successful experiences, adding that it is worthy of appreciation and that the DHA can benefit from them.
Mr. Kavanagh commended the medical drive witnessed in Dubai’s medical sector, especially the Dubai Future Accelerator, stressing that medical institutions in Ireland are ready to support DHA’s vision in various areas included in the Future Accelerators Initiative.
The Irish Ambassador also praised Dubai’s rapid development and remarkable transformation.
