DIFC’s 16th Annual Islamic Finance Conference to Focus on Industry Outlook

Dubai:S and P Global Ratings and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) will host the 16th Annual Islamic Finance Conference on October 7, 2026, at The Atrium, Level 2, Gate District, DIFC. This event will delve into the future prospects of the Islamic finance industry, emphasizing the opportunities and challenges anticipated for 2026-2027.

According to Emirates News Agency, the conference aims to explore the evolving capital markets and credit environment within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Hadi Melki, Managing Director and Regional Head, Middle East at S and P Global Ratings, highlighted the importance of the Islamic finance industry as a diversified funding source amid uncertain global conditions. The conference, he noted, is a crucial forum for examining the sector's resilience and opportunities for growth in the GCC and beyond.

Alya Al Zarouni, Chief Operating Officer of DIFC Authority, emphasized the role of Islamic finance in building resilient and sustainable financial systems. She noted that innovation and cross-border collaboration are essential for the industry's growth and contribution to economic development. The conference will gather regulators, financial institutions, investors, and experts to discuss the sector's future challenges and opportunities.

The event will commence with opening remarks from Alya Al Zarouni and Hadi Melki. Sessions will cover topics such as sovereign credit fundamentals, economic outlooks, and global energy market developments. A panel titled 'Islamic Finance 2026-2027: Navigating Rough Waters,' moderated by Rawan Oueidat, Director of Corporate Ratings at S and P Global Ratings, will analyze the sector's key opportunities and challenges.
