Digital Dubai Partners with CIPS to Promote Excellence in Strategic Procurement

Dubai: Digital Dubai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) to enhance strategic procurement and advance professional development within its workforce. The partnership aims to foster excellence in procurement practices across the organization.

According to Emirates News Agency, CIPS is an international professional organization recognized globally for its authority on procurement and supply standards. The MoU was signed by Tariq Al Janahi, CEO of the Corporate Enablement Sector at Digital Dubai, and Sam Achampong, Regional Director of CIPS MENA, with Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General of Digital Dubai, present at the event.

Under the agreement, CIPS will offer applied learning and globally recognized certification programs to enhance the skills of procurement professionals at Digital Dubai. The training will focus on practical competencies, ethics, and international best practices, spanning an 18-month period with sessions conducted in Dubai by CIPS experts.

Al Mansoori highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating that Digital Dubai is dedicated to developing a future-ready, skilled government workforce capable of leading with innovation and integrity. The partnership with CIPS is expected to align Digital Dubai’s teams with the highest global standards in procurement and supply chain management, strengthening the organization’s ability to support Dubai’s digital future.

Sam Achampong expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the critical role of procurement in supporting innovation and value in public service delivery. The partnership will deliver world-class training tailored to Dubai’s ambitions, empowering procurement professionals with the necessary tools and frameworks to lead transformation.

The MoU includes CIPS delivering tailored practitioner and advanced practitioner-level training, including orientation, competency assessments, and certification aligned with international standards. This program is part of a broader effort to build national capacity, drive ethical procurement practices, and foster continuous learning within the government.
