Dollar Faces First Weekly Decline in Five Weeks Amid AI Investment Wobbles

Accra:The dollar is on track for its first weekly decline in five weeks, with fluctuations in AI investment and a decrease in US yields slowing its recent gains.

According to Emirates News Agency, the dollar experienced a minor drop of 0.2 percent this week, trading at 158.13 yen, and decreased by about 0.1 percent to $1.1210 per euro. The dollar index, which compares the US currency against six major peers, was at 102.07, indicating a potential 0.14 percent drop for the week.

In contrast, sterling remained steady at $1.3270, marking a 0.3 percent rise this week, buoyed by data showing a 0.1 percent unexpected growth in Britain's economy in August. The New Zealand dollar also appeared set for a weekly gain of 0.1 percent at $0.5621.

Meanwhile, the Australian dollar remained unchanged at $0.6921 but was an exception, heading for a 0.8 percent decline against the US dollar this week. This followed a softer-than-expected jobs report on Thursday, which led markets to reassess their expectations for another interest rate hike.
