Abu Dhabi:DR Congo: The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has increased to 8,376, including 4,042 fatalities, as reported by Congolese health authorities.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director-General of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, has issued a warning about the potential risks to neighboring countries due to ongoing transmission within the DRC.
During a visit to the DRC, French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot reiterated France's commitment to supporting efforts against the outbreak and emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant to prevent a resurgence of the virus.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has also cautioned that the continued transmission in the DRC poses a threat of cross-border spread, with neighboring nations experiencing increased risks partly due to population movements across borders.
