Dubai Airports to Launch Red Carpet Service for Terminal 3 Arrivals

Dubai: Dubai Airports has announced that the Red Carpet service, which has significantly transformed the departure process at Dubai International Airport, will soon be available for arriving passengers at Terminal 3. The extension of this innovative service is set to be implemented within the next two months.

According to Emirates News Agency, Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports, disclosed during the Dubai Airshow 2025 that the Red Carpet service completes processing in as little as 6 seconds, with a maximum time of 14 seconds. This service is designed not only for individual passengers but also accommodates groups of up to eight or ten individuals, allowing them to pass through the smart corridor simultaneously by utilizing real-time biometric data processing.

The Red Carpet corridor is a groundbreaking smart service at Dubai International Airport, enabling passengers to clear passport control within seconds without the need to present any travel documents or stop. Al Joker emphasized that integrating technology into operations is a continuous effort to enhance travel procedures' efficiency and productivity. Biometric technologies have been pivotal in streamlining processes by integrating, simplifying, or even eliminating certain steps entirely.

Al Joker elaborated on the unseen development work, highlighting the use of artificial intelligence in determining aircraft positioning and rotation, assessing aircraft characteristics, and analyzing operational data in real-time. This allows operations teams to make swift and accurate decisions. Dubai International Airport's record performance in the third quarter and overall success this year are attributed to an integrated operational ecosystem focused on efficiency, the One DXB team culture, and strong tourism and economic demand in Dubai and key markets.

Looking ahead, Al Joker confirmed that Dubai Airports is preparing for robust traffic in December, aligning with national projections for a record season. The airport's teams are ready with adaptable operational plans to manage peak periods, drawing on their extensive experience in handling exceptional passenger volumes and travel surges. While fourth-quarter figures and year-end projections are under review, the airport anticipates exceeding 95.2 million passengers this year.

Addressing Al Maktoum International Airport, Al Joker highlighted its notable growth, handling approximately 910,000 passengers in the first half of the year across over 20 airlines, with expectations to reach nearly one million passengers by year-end. He mentioned that the new airport design is in its final stages, with tenders and partnerships prepared. The existing terminal in use today is distinct from the new airport, which will differ significantly in form, scale, structure, and capabilities.

Regarding the Dubai Airshow 2025, Al Joker noted that the event is a platform for expertise exchange and showcasing innovations in next-generation air mobility solutions, electric aircraft, and vertical take-off aircraft. Dubai Airports is actively participating in the sustainability alliance with dnata, flydubai, and other partners, aiming to present practical solutions for sustainable aircraft handling and the use of renewable energy in ground operations.
