Abu dhabi: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced the launch of its September 'School of Life' programme, designed to celebrate Emirati women and their contributions, while focusing on the significant role of 'Generation Shapers' in nurturing and shaping future generations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the programme coincides with the back-to-school season and includes 46 workshops and interactive sessions held at Dubai Public Libraries. These sessions are open to children, families, adults, and People of Determination, offering opportunities to learn and explore fields such as arts, literature, languages, music, culinary arts, innovation, science, and technology. The initiative aims to create an environment that merges knowledge, creativity, and community engagement, allowing participants to enhance their skills.
The 'School of Life' project is aligned with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, providing a diverse array of programmes in culinary arts, creative practice, sustainability, music, and technology. These are delivered through a series of innovative clubs, offering experiences that strengthen community capabilities and make culture accessible to all.
This month's programme includes workshops like 'Mexican Kitchen: Tacos' at Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, 'Painting on Cake' at Al Rashidiya Public Library, and 'Scented Wax' at Al Mankhool Public Library. Other notable sessions include 'Bloom with Balloons' at Umm Suqeim Public Library and 'Piano Basics 101' at Al Safa Art and Design Library.
The initiative also introduces children to artificial intelligence with 'AI for Young Minds' by Montajab Alhussein, promoting safe and responsible technology engagement. The 'Health and Nutrition Club' offers hands-on culinary experiences, such as 'Traditional Emirati Aseeda Dessert' and 'Banana Muffin'.
In the 'Art Club,' workshops blend traditional crafts with contemporary practices, featuring sessions like 'Leather Case', 'Metal Emboss', and 'Japanese Kinusaiga Art'. The 'Language Club' offers cultural exploration through language workshops such as 'Japanese Culture: Language 101' and 'From Language to Legacy: Syrian Dialect'.
The 'STEM Club' delves into coding, robotics, and space exploration, with activities like 'Robot Explorers' and 'Game Design: Catch the Letters'. Lastly, the 'Music and Performing Arts Club' at Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children focuses on developing children's vocal and performance skills.
