Abu dhabi: Dubai Health has launched the Dubai Health Youth Council to enable young Emirati professionals to contribute ideas, support its strategic priorities, and help shape the future of healthcare. The initiative aims to integrate the dynamic perspectives of youth into the healthcare sector, fostering innovation and growth.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Council commenced its mission with a retreat themed 'The Ball is in Your Court', gathering 120 young Emiratis. The theme, inspired by the sport of padel, emphasizes teamwork and quick thinking. Participants engaged in discussions to transform their ideas into actionable initiatives, setting the agenda for the Council's future endeavors.
Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, highlighted the significant role of youth in shaping the future of healthcare. He emphasized their partnership in decision-making and driving development and innovation within the sector. The Council represents Dubai Health's dedication to empowering young Emirati talent and creating platforms to convert ideas into tangible outcomes.
Citing His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dr. Sharif reiterated, "Our youth are the secret to UAE's development," expressing optimism that the Council would cultivate creativity, leadership, and collaboration among its members.
The inaugural Council consists of nine Emirati professionals from Dubai Health's integrated academic health system, promoting collaboration across Care, Learning, Discovery, and Giving. Chaired by Mariyam Essa Alblooshi, a Neurosurgery Resident, the Council includes prominent members such as Ahmad Marwan Al Zarooni, Senior Manager at Al Jalila Foundation, and Hamda Ghalib Almahri, Senior Project Manager at MBRU, among others.
Selection criteria for Council members encompassed their academic backgrounds, contributions at work and in the community, leadership skills, and ability to engage in constructive dialogue. The nomination process adhered to standards set by the Federal Youth Authority.
Aligned with the authority's vision, the Council aims to provide young Emiratis with opportunities to engage with leadership and contribute to the development of the healthcare sector.
