Dubai Police and Sharjah Islamic Bank Collaborate to Enhance Anti-Economic Crime Measures.


Dubai: The Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sharjah Islamic Bank to solidify cooperation, enhance coordination, and strengthen partnership relations.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU is designed to bolster the security system through collaboration with partners, focusing on studying and anticipating future economically motivated crimes. The agreement will enhance cooperation and facilitate the sharing of expertise in areas of mutual interest and objectives.

Brigadier Muhammad Aqeel Ahli, Deputy Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation for Search and Investigation Affairs, signed the MoU on behalf of Dubai Police. Dr Amin Khairallah Al Ali, Chief Operating Officer of Sharjah Islamic Bank, signed for the bank, with several officers present.

Brigadier Ahli emphasized that partnerships between Dubai Police and the private sector are part of a collaborative framework to establish predi
ctive work models for preventive planning and elevated performance standards. These partnerships take into account global economic, criminal, and technological changes, necessitating proactive measures to advance the security system.

As a global economic and investment hub, Dubai aims to intensify cooperation with internal and external partners to fortify its security system. The General Department of Criminal Investigation develops strategic plans aligned with global trends to anticipate future security challenges, particularly in combating economic crime.

Dr Al Ali noted that the MoU aligns with the bank’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with government and private sector entities across the UAE. He expressed confidence that the MoU will open new avenues for cooperation, offering opportunities to collaboratively develop high-impact initiatives that enhance the security and privacy of banking services.

Under the MoU, both parties agreed to contribute to the development of the Anti-Economic Crime Opera
tions Centre platform, supervised by Dubai Police, and upgrade the General Department of Criminal Investigation operations room. This includes information sharing, launching joint initiatives to raise awareness of economic and financial crimes, and exchanging knowledge to improve human resource skills between the two organisations.
