ECOWAS to Discuss Possibility of Military Intervention in Niger Thursday

Military chiefs from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will meet in Ghana on Thursday and Friday to discuss a possible military intervention in Niger to restore democracy.

The meeting was originally scheduled for Saturday after overcoming the reasons that caused the meeting to be postponed, according to a spokesman of the bloc, pointing out that military intervention would be possible in Niger if reaching a peaceful accord became difficult to restore legitimacy in the country.
