Abu dhabi: EDGE, a leading advanced technology and defence group, has entered into a Collaboration Agreement with the UAE’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII), SteerAI, and Micropolis to pilot an autonomous logistics platform (ALP). The initiative aims to automate asset movement within and between manufacturing facilities using unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) paired with AI-driven software.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ALPs will feature advanced capabilities such as fleet management, navigation, safety, digital twins, situational awareness, operational optimisation, advanced analytics, and enterprise integration. The partnership seeks to integrate technologies from each participant to create a fully integrated ALP. Micropolis is set to provide the core platform and UGV hardware, while SteerAI will offer the command-and-control layer through its CoreConnect fleet management system. TII will contribute advanced analytics and AI-driven situational awareness via TACTICAai, which consolidates data from multiple sources to provide actionable insights.
The agreement, signed at the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX) 2026, is a significant milestone in enhancing Emirati expertise in UGVs, AI systems, and smart infrastructure. EDGE’s expertise in orchestration and integration is expected to facilitate the delivery of a comprehensive autonomous logistics solution combining hardware, AI, and software.
Bader Al Jaberi from EDGE BRIDGE highlighted the agreement as a pivotal step in advancing autonomous capabilities in the UAE’s industrial defence sector. Dr Najwa Aaraj of TII emphasized the importance of TACTICAai in streamlining operations and enhancing situational awareness. Michael Sonderby from SteerAI noted the potential of CoreConnect to manage complex autonomous operations, and Fareed Aljawhari from Micropolis expressed enthusiasm for contributing to scalable, production-ready autonomous logistics systems.
