Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed the National Elections Authority to consider the full or partial cancellation of the current parliamentary elections if the genuine will of voters cannot be accurately determined. This directive follows numerous complaints, appeals, and incidents reported in various constituencies during the first round of voting.
According to Emirates News Agency, President El-Sisi has urged the Authority to meticulously review all appeals and complaints. He emphasized the need for full transparency in understanding voter intent, ensuring that candidates’ representatives are provided with copies of vote-count records from sub-committees. Additionally, he has called for the announcement of measures taken against violations of election campaigning rules to prevent their recurrence in future election rounds.
The parliamentary elections are being conducted in two phases, as announced by the National Elections Authority. The first phase occurred on November 10 and 11, while the second phase is scheduled for November 24 and 25 to fill the remaining seats.
