Etihad Airways Expands Fleet with 32 New Airbus Widebody Aircraft

Abu dhabi: Etihad Airways today announced a major expansion of its widebody fleet with the addition of 32 new Airbus aircraft. This move further accelerates the airline’s growth and reinforces its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing full-service carriers.

According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement includes a mix of A350-1000s, A350F freighters, and A330-900s through both direct orders and lease commitments, with first deliveries beginning in 2027. This timeline represents one of the earliest widebody availability windows in the global market.

This new commitment follows Etihad’s agreement earlier this year for 28 additional Boeing widebody aircraft, bringing the airline’s total new widebody orders for 2025 to 60 across Airbus and Boeing. Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, highlighted the significance of securing 32 additional widebodies and emphasized the airline’s ability to move swiftly and secure scarce delivery positions. He reiterated the company’s dedication to continuing its growth trajectory and delivering premium experiences while attracting more visitors to Abu Dhabi.

Neves also expressed confidence in Abu Dhabi’s aviation future, emphasizing Etihad’s role in positioning the emirate as a leading global hub. He noted that the airline’s growth is supported by strategic fleet investments that deliver sustainable value and attract millions of visitors to Abu Dhabi each year. Etihad’s partnership with Airbus remains central to achieving its long-term vision.

Beno®t de Saint-Exup©ry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, commended Etihad Airways for its continued investment in the latest-generation widebody aircraft. He stated that the combination of the A350 Family and A330neo would provide unmatched efficiency and flexibility to Etihad’s operations, supporting its future development.
