EU Delays Deforestation Law by One Year.

Brussels: The European Parliament has voted to postpone the implementation of a law banning the import of goods linked to deforestation by 12 months. The decision reflects ongoing debates and negotiations within the legislative body regarding environmental and trade policies.

According to Emirates News Agency, the conservative European People’s Party managed to form a coalition that enabled the delay in the law’s enforcement. This move has sparked discussions on the balance between environmental concerns and economic interests within the European Union.

Last month, the European Commission announced plans to delay the law’s implementation by one year, pushing it to December 2025. This decision followed significant opposition from trade partners, including the United States, Brazil, and Malaysia, who have raised concerns about the potential impact on their exports to the EU.
