Faraya, UNDP official talk joint cooperation

Minister of Interior, Mazen Faraya, on Sunday discussed with Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States (RBAS) of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Abdallah Al Dardari , aspects of joint cooperation with this UN agency. During the meeting, Faraya reviewed the ministry’s efforts in the development field and the humanitarian services provided to Syrian refugees. The minister also referred to the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve economic recovery, especially after Covid-19 pandemic, by launching Economic Modernization Vision (EMV), political modernization system, and public sector development, valuing UNDP’s role in supporting local development programs. The minister said UNDP-implemented projects should cover all the Kingdom’s governorates, adding that Jordan hopes that donors contribute to supporting EMV’s projects. For his part, Al Dardari said UNDP will continue to provide support to Jordan, and seeks to expand this assistance to outreach all groups. Al Dardari noted UNDP is mulling plans in the future to develop low-cost financial resources, and developing the financing system, to expand support for small companies to help 10,000 firms over the next 4 years. He affirmed UNDP’s readiness to support Ministry of Interior to develop a comprehensive national vision aimed to enhance its development and entrepreneurial role.
