Federal National Council Advocates for Global Peace and Development at Islamabad Conference

Islamabad: Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), emphasized the United Arab Emirates’ commitment to political wisdom and balanced development under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This commitment was highlighted during his speech at the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) hosted by the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Islamabad. The conference, themed ‘Peace, Security, and Development,’ saw participation from about 34 parliaments.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Tayer underscored the UAE’s belief in the necessity of a new governance system that ensures peaceful coexistence, fair resource distribution, and equal opportunities for sustainable development. He asserted that peace is a fundamental framework of values and practices essential for human dignity and equal opportunities, serving as the bedrock of security and development.

Al Tayer called attention to the collective responsibility to establish national and international legislation that enhances the relationship between citizens and the state, and aligns legislative frameworks with social realities. He highlighted the pivotal role of parliaments in facilitating cross-border dialogue to foster a global discourse promoting unity and cultural exchange.

He also addressed the impact of globalisation, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence on sustainable political, economic, social, and environmental stability. Al Tayer emphasized that crises, regardless of their nature, have worldwide implications, citing climate change, wars, and threats to energy and food resources as examples.

In his concluding remarks, Al Tayer stressed the importance of collective action in addressing threats to global stability and economic prosperity. He highlighted the need for joint efforts in combating terrorism by targeting its intellectual and financial sources and promoting a culture of coexistence, tolerance, and peace, which are crucial for stability and progress worldwide.
