Fire Erupts in South Korean Hospital, 200 Patients Evacuate

The authorities in South Korea evacuated on Thursday about 200 patients from a hospital in the city of Daegu, following the eruption of a fire in the building.

Quoting firefighting officials, South Korean news agency (Yonhap) reported that the fire broke out early Thursday morning, forcing about 200 inpatients to evacuate, one of the evacuated, complained of difficulty in breathing.

The main blaze was extinguished about two hours later, after about 170 firefighters and 65 fire trucks, Yonhap added.

There have been no reports of material losses so far, while investigations are still underway to find out the causes of the fire.

Last December, six people were killed and 20 others injured, as a result of a fire that broke out in a tunnel in Gwacheon, south of the capital, Seoul.
