Five al-Shabab militants killed in Somali’a Galmudug – agency

Somalia said Tuesday the death of five al-Shabab militants in a joint operation between Somali forces and US Africa Command (AFRICOM) in Galmudug State.

The state’s official news agency (SONNA) noted that the military operation successfully destroyed a large base from which the militias were planning the launch of “terrorist” attacks.

This comes at a time the Somali army is continuing to crack down on the al-Qaeda-affiliated militia; in cooperation with international partners.
