Dubai: Flydubai has launched a new direct service to Ia?i, establishing itself as the first UAE carrier to operate such flights from Dubai. This twice-weekly service expands the airline's Romanian network to two destinations, adding to its existing operations in Bucharest.
According to Emirates News Agency, flydubai plans to increase its Bucharest flights to a triple daily service, raising its total frequency in the Romanian market to 21 flights a week. The inaugural flight to Ia?i was marked by a traditional water cannon salute at Ia?i International Airport (IAS) and was warmly received by local officials, airport representatives, and members of the media.
Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, highlighted Romania's importance to the airline since flights began in 2012, noting a 16% average annual growth in passenger numbers on the Bucharest route. The increase in flight frequency underlines the route's popularity and the robust demand for travel between the UAE, Romania, and beyond.
Romeo Vatra, General Manager of Ia?i Airport, emphasized the significance of the new direct flights, which enhance travel options and strengthen the airport's role as an international gateway for the region. He expressed gratitude for flydubai's confidence in choosing Ia?i and looked forward to a fruitful partnership that benefits both passengers and the local community.
