Skopje: Mohammed Issa Al Kashf, representing the Federal National Council (FNC), participated in the 14th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in Skopje, North Macedonia. The session focused on the theme "Advancing Tolerance and Peace: The Strategic Role of Parliaments in Shaping and Legislating Policies for the Future".
According to Emirates News Agency, Al Kashf addressed the session emphasizing the crucial role of parliamentary institutions amid global changes and challenges in security, stability, and development. He highlighted that parliaments are instrumental in crafting future visions, public policies, and fostering dialogue and tolerance among diverse cultures.
Al Kashf underscored the importance of respecting state sovereignty and international law to strengthen peace and tolerance. He criticized Iran's actions, describing them as hostile and contrary to the principles of good neighbourliness and international law, which threaten regional and global stability.
He condemned attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure, stating that they contradict the international community's values of tolerance, peace, and coexistence. Al Kashf asserted that true peace cannot be achieved through violating sovereignty or using violence and terrorism for political purposes.
He urged parliaments to confront extremism and hate speech while supporting policies promoting dialogue and respect for sovereignty. Al Kashf reiterated the UAE's rejection of threats to its sovereignty and national security, as well as Iranian justifications for terrorist activities.
Al Kashf called for robust legislation to tackle future challenges, safeguard human values, and enhance dialogue and moderation. He reaffirmed the UAE's dedication to international efforts fostering peace, tolerance, and sustainable stability.
