Budva: Amna Ali AlAdidi and Mudhia Salem Al Menhali, members of the Federal National Council (FNC) Parliamentary Division at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), took part in the Assembly's committee meetings during its 20th Plenary Session in Budva, Montenegro.
According to Emirates News Agency, Amna Al Adidi, Deputy Chair of the FNC Parliamentary Division in PAM, contributed significantly to the Committee on Dialogue among Civilisations and Human Rights. The discussions centered on the impact of armed conflict on children in the PAM Region. Al Adidi emphasized the severe effects of armed conflicts on children, highlighting the direct exposure to grave violations and indirect impacts like displacement, education disruption, and limited access to healthcare and humanitarian aid. She called for stronger legal frameworks to criminalize child recruitment in conflicts and advocated for the protection, care, and rehabilitation of affected children.
Al Adidi further stressed the necessity of embedding child protection measures at every stage of conflict prevention, mediation, peacebuilding, recovery, and reintegration, ensuring the child's best interests are prioritized throughout these processes.
Mudhia Salem Al Menhali participated in the discussions of the Committee on Political Cooperation and Security Affairs, focusing on the intertwined security challenges faced by the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions. She highlighted issues such as regional conflicts, cross-border threats, maritime and energy security, and humanitarian crises. Al Menhali noted these challenges' direct impact on societies and the national and global economies.
